WORKSHOP

Our WORKSHOP Classes are three-in-one, combining the three separate skills sets needed to pursue musical theatre, acting, singing and dancing, while practicing in an environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and ensemble theatre-making.  WORKSHOP Classes couple traditional classroom training with an abbreviated rehearsal / performance experience. 


Broadway Play Ground (Ages 6 – 9)
 
Discover new musicals and explore your favorites by joining the Broadway Play Ground, where students ages 6 – 9, act, sing, and dance their way through a variety of show-stopping musical numbers.  Theatre skills, such as listening, focus, self-expression, and collaboration, as well as confidence, humor, and cooperation are all practiced and encouraged, as we bring to life a variety of stories through acting, song and dance.

BROADWAY BOOT CAMP (Ages 10 – 14)
 
Broadway Boot Camp is an extensive introductory program providing basic training for musical theatre performers ages 10 – 14.  The program teaches beginning acting, singing, and movement; then combines the instruction with a rehearsal process culminating in an open classroom presentation.  Our focus is on theatre skills training, such as auditioning basics, and developing an understanding of how to pursue musical theatre training.  We also practice these skills up on your feet in an abbreviated rehearsal / performance process.

STUDIO Classes are a series of specialized skills-based experiences that focus on the specific demands of musical theatre training.  Current offerings include:
 

WORDS & MUSIC, a musical theatre ACTING class – summer intensive!  (Ages 12 – 18) 

Ready to take the next step with your musical theatre training?  WORDS & MUSIC is for musical theatre performers ages 12 – 18, who are looking to grow as actors while enhancing their musical theatre skills.  Students will develop self confidence and awareness in a FUN and encouraging environment, as they explore classic Musical Theatre numbers from the actor’s perspective.  Discover the action in the acting, learn to make strong character choices, and make moments from favorite musicals spring to life!   This class helps students gain the acting chops they need to prepare for their next performance challenge, be it a role in a high school musical, a college entry audition, or just growing more comfortable in front of an audience.

AUDITION PREP (Ages 12 – 18)
 
Whether you plan to audition for BROADWAY at IROQUOIS, your school musical, or prepare for a college entrance audition, this class will guide and coach students in selecting and preparing appropriate vocal audition material, as well as survival techniques for dance auditions.  Students will work with an acting coach, dance instructor, and musical director with the goal of finding, preparing, and rehearsing 16 bars of up-tempo and ballad selections, as well as dance audition insight and strategies.

YOUTH THEATRE ENSEMBLE
 
 
The Youth Theatre Ensemble projects at Broadway at Iroquois offer varied performance experiences throughout the year to area students who have demonstrated the skill, commitment, and desire to pursue musical theatre.  Emphasis is placed on ensemble theatre-making, continued practice and development of theatre skills, as well as the art of collaboration.
 
 
 
TEEN TROUPE
 
LOOK FOR THE TEEN TROUPE IN 2009!  The TEEN TROUPE is Broadway at Iroquois’ performance-based theatre troupe designed for young musical theatre performers who demonstrate commitment to their craft, potential with their talent, and a strong, positive work ethic.  They will train, rehearse, and perform together throughout the summer at a variety of Broadway at Iroquois events, including pre-show performances at Iroquois Amphitheater.  By audition & interview only. 


RISING STARS
 
The Broadway at Iroquois RISING STARS program is a fully produced summer season production made up of outstanding middle and high school students throughout the region.  Students audition and are cast in the show, work as crew members backstage, shadow professional designers, and provide orchestral support in the pit.  This experience is augmented by additional acting training built in and around the rehearsal process, while specialty topics are addressed by a variety of guest instructors.  By audition only.  Auditions in March 2009.
